Candle Care Instructions

Get the most out of your She is Candles experience with proper care:

First Burn (Most Important!)

Burn until the wax melts completely to the edges of the vessel on your first use. This prevents tunneling and ensures an even burn throughout your candle's life. This may take 2-4 hours depending on candle size.

Wick Maintenance

  • Trim your wick to ¼ inch before every burn. This is the #1 rule for a clean, safe burn.
  • Use quality wick trimmers for a clean cut and easy removal of excess wick.
  • Trimming prevents smoking, mushrooming, and soot on your vessel walls.

Burning Guidelines

  • Burn for no more than 4 hours at a time to preserve fragrance quality.
  • Keep the wax pool free of wick trimmings, matches, and debris.
  • Always burn candles within sight. Never leave unattended.
  • Stop burning when ½ inch of wax remains at the bottom for safety.

Extinguishing Your Candle

  • Use a snuffer or dip the wick into the melted wax, then straighten it.
  • Do not blow out—this can cause smoking and hot wax splatter.

Troubleshooting

If your candle smokes, flickers excessively, or has a high flame:

  • Extinguish immediately
  • Let cool completely
  • Trim the wick
  • Check for drafts before relighting

If soot forms on the vessel:

  • Extinguish and let cool
  • Wipe with a clean, damp cloth
  • Trim the wick before relighting

Maximizing Scent Throw

For best fragrance experience, burn in your desired space for 30 minutes with the door closed. Open windows and doors will disperse the scent.

Storage & Maintenance

  • Store in a cool, dark, dry place away from direct sunlight and harsh lighting.
  • Remove dust or fingerprints by gently rubbing with a soft, dry cloth or one slightly dampened with water.
  • Once the wick reaches ½ inch, you can use a candle warmer for safe, continued use.

Enjoy your candle, and thank you for your purchase.
We at She is Candles appreciate you!
